My name is Shelly Johnson – owner and hair artist here at Shag. In the summer of 2022, after 14 years behind the chair, I decided to expand into salon ownership. As a Sacramento native, I was ready to put my own imprint on this city that I love, and Shag was born.

I’ve always put heavy emphasis on refining my craft. I’ve studied at the Toni&Guy Advanced Hairdressing Academy, Wella in Los Angeles, Liscio in Beverly Hills, and Bumble & Bumble in New York City.

My skill set includes color, precision cuts, smoothing treatments and a variety of the best extension methods. I specialize in rich dimensional brunettes & radiant California blondes. I’d love to make your hair my next canvas.

Catherine Withers

Hello! I am Catherine Withers, owner and hair artist at Shag Salon. Originally from the small town of Hollister, I’ve called Sacramento my home for the last decade.

I’ve been in the industry for 15 years working every aspect of the salon. From receptionist to assistant, employee to owner. Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, I could not wait to start my own business.

I was originally trained under Toni and Guy and Paul Mitchell, and pride myself on my attention to detail. I continue to sharpen my expertise in cutting, coloring, curly hair, smoothing treatments and extensions through advanced education.

I draw inspiration from classic music, fashion icons and the beauty in nature. My specialities range from a texturized pixie to bold color transformations.

Alexis Brady

Hi! I’m Alexis Brady, I was born and raised in Fresno California. Moved to Sacramento back in 2009. I came up here to go to beauty school and ended up staying because I love this city so much! The urban lifestyle is something I’ve always wanted.

I’ve always had a passion for creativity. With a keen fashion sense and an eye for originality, and I love versatility and I’m not afraid to work hard to achieve what’s best for my client. I always see potential in everyone and their style.

I love doing everything hair! From haircuts, color, highlights and hair extensions! I’ve trained in Wella and Davines hair color, and Tony & Guy hair cutting techniques. Hair extensions, I also do hand tied and tape-in techniques.

My goal in my career is to always stay up with the hottest trends and education!

Hillary Schuessler

Hi I’m Hillary schuessler. I was born and raised in Sacramento California. I am a child of five, so I love the sense of family I feel in the salon and with my clients. My Grandma being a retired hair stylist got me passionate about following in her foot steps, and I’ve been doing what I love for 8 years now.

I specialize in color & mens styling. I am trained in Toni&Guy hair cutting, Wella color and a variety of tape in extension methods. I continue to keep up on the newest trends through continued education.

My favorite thing about being a hair artist is seeing a client leave my chair feeling more confident.
